Collegiate Affiliation

James Ramsburg is a PhD candidate in Hispanic Linguistics in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese Studies at the University of Minnesota. In addition, he has also worked with the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition at the same institution and the Sociolinguistics of the Balearic Islands Research Group at the University of the Balearic Islands. His research focuses on identifying and explaining dialectal variation, especially in the lexicon and grammar.

He was the 2022-2023 Doctoral Scholar in Catalan Studies from the Institut Ramon Llull and North American Catalan Society, and is currently a UMN Doctoral Dissertation Fellow for the 2023-2024 academic year.
