Alya Ansari is a Ph.D. candidate in the program in Comparative Literature, with a graduate minor in Moving Image, Media, and Sound Studies. Her research mobilizes Karl Marx’s “critique through presentation” in conversation with Gilles Deleuze’s concept of “expression” to chart the self-effacing operation of the capitalist mode of production and the establishment and destabilization of its sense-making regimes in a comparative exegesis of 19th century British industrial novels and 21st century gig work/office novels
