Oboist Christine Soojin Kim has been praised for her “lovely yet powerful playing” (Boston Musical Inteligencer) and her “delightful and excellent solos” (Your Observer News).
Having made her concerto debut at 14, Kim has since appeared as a soloist with the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, Yongin Youth Orchestra, Bundang Youth Orchestra, and the Seoul National University Orchestra.
She was appointed as principal oboe for the Sarasota orchestra and the Des Monies Opera Orchestra while appearing as a guest musician with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, New World Symphony, the Florida Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, and the Korean Symphony Orchestra.
Kim has received her Master’s degree under the tutelage of John Ferrillo and Anne Gabriele at New England Conservatory. At the Colburn School, she earned an Artist Diploma under Allan Vogel, and received her Bachelor of Music from Seoul National University studying with Yun-Jung Lee.
She has recently finished her one year position with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and is currently the acting assistant principal oboe of the Vancouver Symphony for the 2023-2024 season. She also holds a position with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra as principal oboe while teaching at the University of Minnesota.
