Luke specializes in the cultural history of the Atlantic World, and he is interested in religion, early modern ethnography, and engraving during the early decades of the Enlightenment (1680-1720). His current research focuses on discussions of religion as they occured in early academic journals in Amsterdam, Paris, and London, and on the history of the Christian concept of idolatry.
