I am honored to be an affiliate faculty member in Writing Studies and an Assistant Director of Writing Across the Curriculum in the Center for Writing. Through the Writing-Enriched Curriculum and Teaching with Writing programs, I collaborate closely with faculty, graduate instructors, and teaching assistants across the university on writing-related matters, including writing assignment design and assessment, and utilizing effective practices in teaching and responding to student writing. I enjoy the ongoing and dialogical nature of this work, which takes many forms — individual consultations, workshops, panels, reading circles, and writing retreats.
My work in the Center for Writing draws on extensive experience in the classroom, where I am thrilled to teach courses in First Year Writing. I have also taught undergraduate and graduate courses in literature, composition, film and media aesthetics, Liberal Studies, and Education, and directed National Writing Project sites at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Washington.
