The Center for Austrian Studies - 2024 Dissertation Prize Competition Now Open
The Center for Austrian Studies is now accepting submissions for the 2024 Dissertation Prize.
The purpose of this competition is to encourage scholars in North America across academic disciplines in the arts/humanities and social sciences to conduct original research in the field of Austrian, Habsburg, post-Habsburg, as well as Central and East-European studies.
The subject matter may deal with the history and culture of lands and peoples in Central and Eastern Europe with links to the former Habsburg Empire. This includes topics pertaining to contemporary Austria, Austria’s relationship with other Central and Eastern European countries past and present, as well as Austria's history with the European Union.
In order for a dissertation to be eligible for the 2024 Prize competition, it must have been completed between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023. Eligible works may be from any discipline in the humanities, social sciences, or the arts.
The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2024. Please send a PDF of the dissertation to ahy@umn.edu.
