Asian Pacific American Resource Center (APARC)

Offers academic support, peer mentoring, and other resources related to AAPI identity. This new center on campus "is committed to ensuring AAPI [Asian American Pacific Islander] students achieve academic success, affirming AAPI student identity, and engaging the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to better support AAPI students."

Center for Academic Planning and Exploration (CAPE)

The U has more than 150 majors! Even if you know what you want to study, it is helpful to consider all of your options. CAPE can help our range of services and resources to help you explore majors.

International Student and Scholar Services

ISSS is dedicated to serving the University’s international community. They cultivate an inclusive community by providing expertise and leadership with compassion. 

Libraries' Peer Research Consultants 

Peer Research Consultants (aka Library Research Tutors) are U of M students who are specially trained to help other undergrads narrow down paper topics and create research questions, navigate the Libraries' website, locate good databases or Library services for a topic, choose good keywords for searching, find scholarly or academic articles, evaluate articles and websites, explore undergraduate research opportunities and provide tips for finding a research mentor. PRCs are in-person in the Health Sciences Library, MCAE in Appleby Hall, and Walter Library, and online for Zoom appointments. Students can make an appointment with a PRC here.

Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE) Instructional Center

Offers face-to-face drop-in tutoring in writing and STEM fields.

Spanish Writing Center

Offers face-to-face tutoring on a walk-in basis and by appointment, and online tutoring (writers who submit their work online should allow 48 hours for a response). Available to Spanish majors and minors and to students in any 3000-level class that is taught primarily in Spanish.

Student English Language Support

Offers free, face-to-face English as a second language support to international undergraduate students. Sponsored by the Minnesota English Language program, SELS is designed for students who want to address a particular English language need to be more successful at the U of M.

Tutoring & Academic Success Center

Offers drop-in support for selected gateway courses in both individual and small group formats, as well as research and technology assistance at various locations on the East Bank, West Bank, and St. Paul campuses. Also sponsors special events such as academic success workshops and pre-exam review sessions.

Bias Response Referral Network (BRRN)

The Bias Response and Referral Network responds to reports of bias incidents on the Twin Cities campus. The BRRN’s goal is to contribute to a campus climate that is welcoming, inclusive, and respectful for all. The BRRN provides support resources to impacted parties, promotes education and dialogue, and affirms the University's commitment to equity and diversity, free speech, and academic freedom.

Career Services can help with majors and careers, jobs and internships, interviewing, networking, negotiating offers, and more! Career offices at the University are affiliated with colleges to best meet the needs of their students. 

Disability Resource Center

The University of Minnesota values diverse identities and experiences, and honors disability as an important aspect of human diversity. The DRC partners with students, faculty, staff, and guests of the University to facilitate accessibility and reduce barriers on campus to improve access for disabled people

First-Gen Connect

First-Gen Connect is a new supportive network for first-generation college students who are in graduate programs at the University of Minnesota.

The Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life

The Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life provides education, advocacy, outreach, and support to students, staff, faculty, alum and community members. We strive to create a campus climate where more inclusive understandings of gender and sexuality foster a sense of belonging for all.

Immigration Response Team (IRT)

The Immigration Response Team exists to ensure all who are affected by immigration policy changes have access to resources and support. Services include consultations, Immigration Drop-In hours for students, the writing of travel letters for faculty and staff, and the monitoring of the impact of immigration policy changes on the UMN community. The IRT also administers The Dream Fund, a fund that provides modest grants for emergency situations to students who have/had DACA, lost Temporary Protected Status, are undocumented or face other challenges due to immigration policy changes. 

Improving Campus Climate

Campus Climate emerged in 2014 as a pressing issue through the Twin Cities campus strategic planning process, as well as past and current grassroots efforts led by campus groups concerned about the experiences of marginalized groups at the University of Minnesota. This site contains a number of initiatives and projects that are currently under way to advance campus climate on the Twin Cities campus.

Student Conflict Resolution Center

The Student Conflict Resolution Center (SCRC) is available to assist students in resolving campus-based problems or concerns. Our staff provide confidential, impartial, and informal options for resolving conflicts in a fair manner.

Student Legal Service offers advice and legal representation to student service fee paying students at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities campus.

Student Parent Help Center

The Office for Student Affairs has provided funding for a part-time dedicated Student Parent Help Center (SPHC) staff position specifically focused on the needs of graduate student parents. More info on services, assistance, and events on the Student Parent Help Center website.

Women’s Center

The Women’s Center educates and inspires feminist leaders, advances an empowering intellectual environment, and advocates for an equitable University culture and community. The first campus-based women's center in the country, the University of Minnesota’s Women's Center was founded in 1960 as the Minnesota Plan for the Continuing Education of Women.
