LANG 100 Italian for Reading Knowledge – an Online Summer Course

This fully online course provides a concise overview of grammar as well as reading and translation practice for graduate students who wish to read Italian. It is primarily intended to help students acquire and practice the tools they need to use Italian documents in their own research. It enables students to acquire and increase reading precision and fluency through the study of grammar and vocabulary; the discussion of various strategies for understanding texts on the basis of fragmentary structural and content-related information; and regular reading and translation of original, edited and unedited texts from different sources. The class is conducted mainly in English; listening, speaking, and writing skills are developed minimally.

This is the first summer CourseShare course to be sent in the Big Ten. The course is being sent from Indiana University and it will use Canvas and Zoom as the methods of delivery. If you have any questions, or would like more information, please email elsie@umn.edu.
