LC Conference Initiative: Proposals Open for MCTLC

Minnesota Council on the Teaching of Languages and Cultures (MCTLC) Conference

October 27 – 28, 2023
University of Minnesota Campus

MCTCL Conference proposal: deadline July 21, 2023
LC Conference Initiative submission form: deadline July 14, 2023

The MCTLC annual conference will be held on the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities campus, and the call for proposals is now open!

This year's conference theme, "Reimagining our Boundless Possibilities," acknowledges the exceptional challenges we have all faced in the past three years, but simultaneously expresses great faith not just in our own resilience and resourcefulness as teachers, but in what our support for each other can help us do. It seeks to reimagine what we can do within and beyond the language classrooms so as to amplify the impact of language and culture learning on individuals and the community.

MCTLC welcomes proposals from instructors of any language, and especially encourages proposals that speak to the conference theme or to any of the following conference strands:

  • Focus on Cultural Competence;
  • Inclusive Classrooms;
  • Voices and Narratives of Immigrant and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Teachers and Learners;
  • Teaching for Proficiency and Performance Assessments;
  • Learning Technologies;
  • Heritage Language Teaching and Learning;
  • Elementary Language Teaching;
  • Networking and Connecting.

Graduate students and instructional P&As of languages are eligible to submit a Language Center Conference Initiative request to apply for funding to present at this upcoming conference. Please review the call for proposal information from MCTLC first and then submit the Language Center form. Feedback is provided to authors prior to their submission of their conference proposal.
