Project Highlights

Three people pose together in the Borchert Map Library. They are looking over a bookshelf at the camera and smiling.

Our students and faculty are involved in a variety of collaborative and innovative GIS projects, and we highlight some of these here. We are fortunate to be part of The Spatial University as it affords our students, faculty and staff the opportunity to engage in innovative, purposeful, and engaging geospatial work across campus and the UMN system.

Being a professional GIS program, it is critical that our students collaborate with faculty and others across campus as well as government organizations, non-profits, and the private sector to find solutions to complex social, environmental, and economic problems using geospatial technologies. Our alumni continue to do this once they enter the GIS profession. Many of these collaborative GIS projects receive awards and media attention for the contributions they make to the profession and society.
