Professor Fernando Meza's Performs with Minnesota Orchestra and More

Fernando Meza (percussion) offered master classes and performed as soloist with the percussion ensemble of Southern Utah University on April 14. On April 19 he performed with Julia Bogorad-Kogan (flute), Timothy Lovelace (collaborative piano), Peter Kogan (former principal timpanist, Minnesota Orchestra), and percussion graduate students Jarod Bendele and Jack Donovan for Leonard Bernstein's Halil, followed by a performance of Visions by late U of M School of Music alumnus Stephen Paulus, a work for four marimbas and four choirs at the Cathedral of Saint Paul with VocalEssence (Philip Brunelle, director). Meza is on the advisory board of the Cuban American Youth Orchestra and performed in the atrium of Orchestra Hall following the Minnesota Orchestra concert on April 19 with Havana Winds, a group of four Cuban musicians participating in CAYO's Spring Academy.

Meza also performed Béla Bartók's Sonata for 2 pianos and percussion for the JOYA Chamber Music Series on April 22 with timpanist Alex Wadner and pianists Mary Jo Gothman and Ann Duhamel, and with the Minnesota Orchestra during the concert of violinist Joshua Bell on April 23, 2018.
