Hello fellow alumni,

As you’ve been reading in Alma Matters, the CLA Alumni Society (CLAAS) has been busy again this school year with several endeavors. Being a constituent group of the college and the U of M Alumni Association (UMAA), we are so fortunate for the opportunities at our disposal, and with the University’s largest alumni body of 157,000, we are always poised to lend our time and support.

On the precipice of CLA’s 150th anniversary year, the CLAAS’s activities are well aligned to accomplish priorities of CLA’s Roadmap.

For example, we are driven to help CLA students become the most desirable graduates. We sponsor career readiness activities linking students and alumni throughout the school year - frequently collaborating with CLA Career & Internship Services, the CLA Student Board, and other college partners on networking functions, employer site visits, resume critiques, practice interviews, and internship grant/scholarship selection.

The CLAAS also plays a key role in fostering a culture of engagement.

We bring alumni together through fun and educational functions like marching in the Homecoming Parade, drawing fellow grads to the Arts Quarter Festival, and helping to kick off CLA’s Shattering Expectations Campaign.

We also help recognize graduates through CLA’s Outstanding Alumni Awards.

Additionally, you may have noticed the We Are Liberal Arts films in Alma Matters showcasing numerous CLA alumni, as well as, films on the new CLA Get Ready website featuring alumni weighing in on core career competencies they gained through their CLA education.

Your membership in the UMAA makes our alumni society initiatives possible. Additionally, the UMAA is able to complement what we do with national and international outreach, local University-wide social and networking functions, and a robust set of virtual offerings. Make sure to check out one of the UMAA’s latest tools, the Maroon and Gold Network!

Thanks so much for your interest and involvement.
