Diversity & Inclusion
About Us
The Department of Spanish & Portuguese Studies has a faculty and graduate student body that reflects the diversity of the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world. We are committed to growing our community—not only through racial and cultural representation, but also through increasing the representation of genders, abilities, immigration status, socioeconomic backgrounds, and veteran status.
We highly encourage both domestic and international students from underrepresented and under-resourced backgrounds to apply to our program. To request an application fee waiver, please fill out this short form.
From the College
Our goal is for CLA to be a destination for curious, compassionate individuals who are committed to making our increasingly interdependent and diverse global community work for everyone. That’s why we’re increasing enrollment of underrepresented and under-resourced students, diversifying our faculty across all disciplines, and promoting the expression and exploration of diverse perspectives and viewpoints—so that we all gain the background knowledge and analytical skills we need to understand and respect differences.
