On October 4, 2018, alumni, staff, and students of CLA and other University of Minnesota groups were recognized at the U of M Alumni Association’s annual Alumni Awards Affair.

CLA alumni and staff earned a Program Extraordinaire award for the We Are Liberal Arts and We Are Liberal Arts: Career Readiness video series where alumni touted their pride in their liberal arts studies and described how they gained and use the 10 Core Career Competencies of a CLA education.

CLA students Elliot Fleck (BA '18, anthropology), Gabriella Granada (BA ‘19, English), and recent alumna Monica Delgado (BA ‘18, political science) earned the Donald R. Zander Alumni Award for Student Leadership.

Additionally, alumnus Paul Taylor (BA ’61) earned the UMAA’s Advocate of the Year Award for his efforts to secure legislative support for the renovation of Pillsbury Hall.
