Non-Degree Graduate Credit

We welcome individuals who are not enrolled in a University of Minnesota graduate program (called “non-degree seeking students”) to take our graduate courses. Non-degree seeking students pay the general graduate tuition rate for courses. Although not guaranteed, in certain circumstances non-degree seeking students can apply their course(s) to a Writing Studies graduate program’s requirements if the student applies for and is accepted into the program.

To register as a non-degree seeking student, please first contact the class instructor for permission to register. Then, follow One Stop’s steps to register for graduate classes as non-degree.
