Stephan Knott is a PhD candidate at the University of Minnesota. He is particularly interested in narratives, mentalities, the imaginary, and everything nineteenth-century scholars would have called “legends”. His dissertation, titled “Constantinople, the menue gent, and Imagining a Whole New World in Frankish Greece,” provides a reinterpretation of the Fourth Crusade and the early years of the Crusader States in the Aegean.
