Katherine E. Nash Gallery Director Howard Oransky receives President's Award for Outstanding Service

The Award is presented annually to faculty and staff who have gone well beyond their regular duties and serve as exemplars of the University community.

Please join us in congratulating Katherine E. Nash Gallery Director Howard Oransky, who has been presented with the 2023 President's Award for Outstanding Service!

In her announcement of the twelve recipients, former President Joan Gabel wrote:
"The President's Award for Outstanding Service is presented each year in the spring and recognizes exceptional service to the University, its schools, colleges, departments, and service units by any active or retired faculty or staff member. The recipients for this year’s award have gone well beyond their regular duties and serve as exemplars of the University community."

Howard Oransky has curated or co-curated a number of important exhibitions at the Nash Gallery, including Covered in Time and History: The Films of Ana MendietaQueer Forms, The Beginning of EverythingA Picture Gallery of the Soul, and A Tender Spirit, A Vital Form: Arlene Burke-Morgan & Clarence Morgan. Oransky has also co-authored several exhibition catalogues, including one for the forthcoming exhibition Dreaming Our Futures: Ojibwe and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ Artists and Knowledge Keepers, for which the University of Minnesota Press has announced a 168-page exhibition catalogue by Oransky and Northrop Professor of American Studies Brenda J. Child (Red Lake Ojibwe), coming in January 2024.
