Robert B. Litterman is a founding partner of Kepos Capital, an investment firm based in New York. He is also an alumnus of the University of Minnesota, where he earned a doctorate in economics. Prior to joining Kepos in 2010, Litterman enjoyed a 23-year career at Goldman Sachs, rising to partner and head of the firm-wide risk function. He is the co-developer of the Black-Litterman Global Asset Allocation Model, a key tool in investment management.

Dr. Litterman shares his expertise through serving on a number of boards, including the Heller-Hurwicz Economics Institute, World Wildlife Fund, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Climate Leadership Council. He chaired the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Climate-Related Market Risk Subcommittee, which published its report, “Managing Climate Risk in the U.S. Financial System,” in September 2020.

The Outstanding Achievement Award is the highest nondegree award conferred upon distinguished alumni by the University of Minnesota. It recognizes graduates or former students of the University who have attained unusual distinction in their chosen fields or professions, or in public service, and who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and leadership on a community, state, national, or international level.

 This event was held at McNamara Alumni Center and online via Zoom.
