4th Annual HHEI Alumni Conference
The Heller-Hurwicz Economics Institute (HHEI) is proud to host the 4th Annual HHEI
Alumni Conference. The event will happen online on Thursday, September 7th , and Friday, September 8th.
The invitation-only conference is the fourth in the series and features current Ph.D. candidates as well as
Ph.D. alumni from the Department of Economics of the University of Minnesota. The conference
provides a valuable opportunity for final-year graduate students to present their research and gather
feedback before entering the job market in early 2024.
This year, Boyoung Seo (Ph.D. 2016) and Joaquín García-Cabo (Ph.D. 2018) are giving the plenary talks.
Seo, an Assistant Professor of Economics at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN), will speak on “Racial
Difference in Retail Prices Paid.” García-Cabo, a Senior Economist at the Board of Governors of the
Federal Reserve System (Washington, DC), will speak on "Sectoral Shocks, Reallocation, and Labor
Market Policies."
