Mariacristina De Nardi elected fellow of the Econometric Society

Professor Mariacristina De Nardi
Congratulations to Mariacristina De Nardi for being elected a Fellow of the Econometric Society.  This is an extremely prestigious honor and she is among the only 12 economists working in the United States to be elected this year. (See this link for the full list, including worldwide.)

Mariacristina is the Thomas Sargent Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Minnesota.  She is also a consultant at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and senior scholar at the Opportunity and Inclusive Growth Institute.   Her research is remarkably broad, spanning public economics, labor economics, inequality, health, wealth, savings, entrepreneurship, social security, social insurance reform, and human capital.  Her work is notable in the way it pushes the frontier at the intersection of micro and macroeconomics.

You can find out more about Mariacristina's research at her website. For a recent profile of Mariacristina's path to success as a first-generation college student, see her feature on the Heller-Hurwicz Economic Institute website.

The Department of Economics also congratulates:
  • Vasiliki Skreta, a former faculty member in our department, who was also just elected Fellow.
  • Rosa Matzkin, a graduate of our Ph.D. program, who is currently President of the Econometric Society
  • Michèle Tertilt, a graduate of our Ph.D. program, who was just elected for next year's Council of the Econometric Society.
