Who says it's just about silent reading?

From radio interviews to staged performances, English faculty, students, and guests are taking over the mic. Listen up:

1. Professor Julie Schumacher gave multiple interviews about her 2018 comic novel The Shakespeare Requirement, the sequel to the Thurber Prize-winning Dear Committee Members. Here she chats with Kerri Miller on MPR.

2. This fall, English was part of an international celebration of the 200th birthday of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Among our Frankenstein at 200 events:

3. Last summer, Professor Katherine Scheil celebrated the release of her new book, Imagining Shakespeare's Wife: The Afterlife of Anne Hathaway, with a launch in Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's home town. During her visit, she was interviewed by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust; here she talks about novelists' versions of Hathaway across the centuries.

5. Finally, Regents Professor Patricia Hampl performed "A University Farewell" at the Weisman Art Museum November 29; watch her read "My Manhattan," a short segment about her early days as an undergraduate at the U.
