Research Interests:

My research centers on sub-Saharan Africa, the Mediterranean, and southern Europe. My work focuses on the literary and cinematic representations of clandestine migration between Africa and Europe. My dissertation analyzes the relationship between migration control and surveillance technology, the notions of spectrality and hospitality in the experience, and portrayal of undocumented migrants in contemporary francophone novels and films. I am currently working on articles that speak to these questions. Additionally, I am interested in refugee studies and immigration control policies, as well as African and Afro-American literature.
