Graduate Student Opportunities at IHRC

The Immigration History Research Center (IHRC) offers opportunities for UMN graduate students studying any aspect of migration to network, share experiences and expertise, meet with established scholars, and engage in professional development. This dedicated programming is a mix of in-person and online events for graduate students across disciplines. The IHRC aims to serve as a resource for academic expertise, a safe place to share works-in-progress, and a hub for migration-related research and funding support.

Graduate Assistant

The IHRC hires at least one Graduate Assistant each year. The primary responsibility of  IHRC GAs is to organize dedicated programming for and by UMN graduate students, and to work towards building a strong community of interdisciplinary graduate students doing migration-related work. Additionally, the GA may be responsible for other administrative, event, and communication support.

Pay Rate for Graduate Assistantships

The minimum pay rate for graduate assistantships in the College of Liberal Arts for the 2025-26 academic year is $28.94/hour.
