Each semester, the Center hosts a mix of the different interest groups listed below. Each group has its own mailing list for reminders of dates and links to the week's reading. Please join the mailing lists of interest via this form.
Spring 2026 interest groups

The Biological Interest Group (BIG) reads and discusses works of mutual interest in the history and philosophy of biology.
Time: Friday afternoons (every other week), 1:30–3:00 pm Central time
Place: 737 Heller Hall and online via Zoom
The Center Discussion Group (CtrDG) reads and discusses works of mutual interest in the philosophy of science, broadly construed. We have a tradition of inviting authors to visit and discuss their work with the group.
Time: Friday afternoons (every other week), 1:30–3:00 pm Central time

The Early Modern Interest Group (EMIG) reads and discusses primary and secondary literature focused on natural philosophy from the early modern period, especially in the work of key philosophers such as Descartes, Leibniz, and Kant. Our basis for selecting readings is to study works that are routinely ignored in the philosophy curriculum.
Time: Thursdays, 4:00-5:30 pm Central time

The Foundations Interest Group (FIG) reads and discusses works of mutual interest in the philosophy and foundations of mathematics and the philosophy of logic.
Time: Monday mornings (every other week), 10:00-11:15 am Central time

The Mid-Century Philosophy of Science (MCPS ^ 2) group reads and discusses works from philosophy of science’s early period of establishment and growth: the mid-20th century.
