The undergraduate minor in Medieval Studies allows students to develop specialized knowledge of medieval history and culture through coursework with world-renowned scholars, hands-on experience with workshops, and lectures and talks by visiting scholars. Our Medieval Studies minor provides students with a flexible program to explore the Middle Ages through a variety of disciplinary approaches.
The undergraduate minor is 15 semester credits in courses at the 3xxx, 4xxx, and 5xxx level, chosen in consultation with the CPS Director of Undergraduate Studies. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the minor, it can be very compatible with the completion of Liberal Education requirements for students outside of the College of Liberal Arts. Please reach out to us to discuss whether or not specific courses count toward the minor.
Details about the Undergraduate Minor in Medieval Studies can be found in the University Catalog.
Declare an Undergraduate Medieval Studies Minor
Students interested in declaring a minor in Medieval Studies should contact CPS Associate Director, Lydia Garver, via email at [email protected]. To declare the minor students will need to complete an Undergraduate Medieval Studies Minor Application Form (view only Google document to download or print) documenting the courses taken or to be taken and return it to the Associate Director via email at [email protected] or by dropping it off at the CPS office in Heller Hall 1030.
