Bridging the Gap Between Psychology and Gamification

Science Daily provides a description of research conducted by Richard Landers at the University of Minnesota and collaborators at the University of Waterloo on defining gamefulness.  Says Landers, "As the world of technology grows evermore complex, it is becoming increasingly important for social scientists and others who are not trained in computer science to understand how their work is affected by this complexity.  Gamification gained its popularity in computer science but is ultimately an integration of new technology with classic psychological theories about motivation.  This project thus represents an interdisciplinary approach combining the best of these two fields."
