2. Research in Psychology Fair

Psychology undergraduate students, stop by the 6th Floor of Elliott Hall anytime between 1:00- 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 11th to learn about psychology research opportunities! Representatives from psychology research labs, UROP, and Psychology Advising will be available to answer your questions. This event is specifically recommended for Psychology BS majors planning to complete the capstone during the 2019-20 academic year, but all students interested in learning more about psychology research opportunities are welcome.

4. Working Towards Resilience Workshop

H.O.P.E. Student Organization is hosting the "Working Towards Resilience" Workshop on Wednesday, April 3rd from 5:00 pm -6:00 pm in Bruininks Hall (Room 131B). This workshop will be an interactive presentation engaging with the UMN community on the definition of ACEs (adverse childhood experiences) and how to understand and respond to individuals with high numbers of ACEs. This is a great opportunity to learn how to take action by providing effective forms of support to those affected by ACEs. Food and beverages will be provided. 5. Pre-Law 101

7. Research Assistant Position Available in Adolescent Depression MRI Studies

Dr. Karina Quevedo is currently looking is looking for motivated Psychology undergraduates to come to acquire neuroimaging research experience in her lab (looking to take credit 4993/UROP/volunteer). This opportunity is geared towards students who can begin working as soon as possible for at least 1.5-2 full years. The Health and Emotions in Adolescents: Research and Trajectories (HEART) Lab is a neuroimaging lab conducting several studies to better understand adolescent depression, suicidality, and self-harm. The HEART Lab focuses on the brain function of adolescents – with and without depression – while they complete fMRI tasks designed to examine emotion regulation and cognition. Our real-time MRI “Train Your Brain” research study that we are currently conducting is particularly exciting because there are opportunities to see how the brain works in vivo! This is an excellent opportunity for students looking to present a poster or to write a UROP project or research credit. Required skills include basic computer skills. Preferred skills include computer knowledge in MATLAB, SPSS, and Photoshop. The time commitment for this position is about 5-12 hours/week. 8. Social Interaction Lab

We are seeking enthusiastic, conscientious, and detail-oriented students to work in Dr. Jeff Simpson’s Social Interaction Lab in the Summer of 2019. We will be collecting data (e. g., running participants) from parents and their child (age 3-5) on a project about differences in parenting behaviors. Because we have many community participants, we have to be flexible in scheduling the lab sessions. That means sometimes working on nights or weekends, and the schedule will change from week to week (but sessions are scheduled around your availability). Successful applicants will have multiple chunks of 3+ hours available per week. Prospective research assistants should be able to commit approximately 9 hours of work per week over the summer. Preference will be given to students that are able to commit for more than one semester and have interest working with children. To apply please visit this link.

9. Undergraduate Research Opportunity in Child Psychiatry (volunteer)

We are looking for a student to volunteer in Dr. Meredith Gunlicks-Stoessel’s adolescent depression research lab for Summer 2019 and the 2019-2020 academic year. Students will be working primarily on a research project that is evaluating the effectiveness of personalized interventions for adolescent depression delivered in a community mental health care setting. Responsibilities will include preparing study materials, administering data collection procedures with adolescents and parents, and data entry. Qualified candidates must be highly motivated, able to work independently, detail-oriented, and willing to develop new skills as the need arises. Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills; organizational skills; and comfort using basic computer programs such as Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and web applications are also required. Candidates must be pursuing a degree in Psychology or related field and be willing to commit to 3-4 hours per week (hours will be 3-7pm during the week and occasional weekends). 11. University of Minnesota School of Dentistry Open House

The Office of Admissions and Diversity is holding the 2nd Annual School of Dentistry Open House for high school and college students on Saturday, June 15, 2019. Programming for high school students will be from 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and college students will attend in the afternoon from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Activities for both groups include hands-on activities, information sessions, and an opportunity to connect with current students, faculty and staff in our dental hygiene (BSDH), dental therapy (BSDH/MDT), and dentistry (DDS) programs. 12. St. Cloud State University - Now Accepting Applications

SCSU is now accepting applications for their Rehabilitation Counseling (M.S.) and Rehabilitation and Addiction Counseling (M.S.) programs in the Department of Community Psychology, Counseling and Family Therapy. These programs help you develop the professional understanding, knowledge, attitude, and skills necessary to assist individuals and groups with disabilities in achieving their maximum level of independence and functioning. 13. NAMI - #WellnessinColor

The Multicultural Young Adult Advisory Board at NAMI is seeking individuals who want to share their mental health story. Our hope is to reduce the stigma of mental illness by reshaping its cultural language. Please help us by sharing your journey to mental wellness and contributing to our podcast series. Community Action has a variety of internships available for the warm season. Scholarships

15. The Recovery Village® Health Care Scholarship

The Recovery Village® is dedicated to maintaining exceptional service at our alcohol and drug rehab facilities while providing unique opportunities for education and personal development. As part of this commitment, The Recovery Village® is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students pursuing a medical-related course of study. To enter to win a $1,000 scholarship, simply submit a short essay (no more than 500 words) describing why you are passionate about substance use disorder and mental health treatment. Essays can be in the form of a personal narrative with a medical perspective or focus specifically on clinical experience. A $1,000 award will be given to a student pursuing a health-related degree program. Areas of study that will be considered include, but are not limited to, counseling, social work, emergency medicine, pre-med, nursing, psychology (with a focus on addiction counseling or a substance-abuse related field). The Nonprofit Scholarship (up to $1,000.00 reward) recognizes and supports students who have a passion for nonprofit work that makes the world a better place. 17. Psychiatry Department - Recruiter RA Position

The Cognition and Brain (CAB) in Psychopathology Lab is seeking to hire a full-time Research Assistant responsible for recruiting participants to multiple NIH-funded studies on psychosis and traumatic brain injury. The RA will engage in community outreach, establish connections with local organizations, conduct phone screens to review potential participant eligibility, and then schedule participants for study visits. The RA will also maintain our public relations presence with website updates and social media account management. Opportunities to conduct additional assessments with participants may be available. 20. Research Technician Associate - University of Michigan

The Evolutionary Social Psychology and Psychology of Inequality Labs at the University of Michigan are recruiting a full time (40 hours/week) Research Technician Associate (i.e., lab manager) to work jointly in both labs. The Evolutionary Social Psychology Lab, directed by Professor Joshua Ackerman, investigates a variety of psychological topics by asking not only what people do, but why and how our ancestral histories might have influenced such behaviors. Current work considers the impact of infectious disease and physiological immune system factors on decision-making and interpersonal behavior, as well as the influence of child and adult social settings on social cognition, romantic relationships, and time perception. 21. CAPE Peer Coach!

Apply to be a Peer Coach in CAPE! Peer Coaches hold major exploration drop-in hours in the main CAPE office in 511 Bruininks, and at satellite locations on campus. Peer coaches are trained to listen to student's experiences and challenges and offer support and resources for exploring majors. In addition to drop-ins, Peer Coaches also serve as teaching assistants for OUE 2001, CAPE's 1-credit major exploration course. The Peer Coaching position would be an excellent fit for students with a personal and/or professional interest in counseling, teaching, advising, mentoring, and coaching. CAPE encourages students of color, indigenous students, LGBTQI students, and students from every major and college at the U to apply.
