2. ABPS Board Applications Now Open!

3. University of Minnesota Entry-Level Job Fair

Courses of Interest

4. PSY 4960-001: Advanced Topics in Quantitative Methods: R Programming - Fall 2021 (3 credits)

Conducting psychological research involves collecting data, but what happens next? Completing research projects involves more than just analyzing data! In this course, we will learn about the research pipeline and how to incorporate Open Science practices to generate reproducible and transparent analyses. Specifically, students will learn both basic and advanced R programming to carry out data cleaning, analyses, and visualization. Finally, students will learn how to share their code and data via GitHub. A large component of this course will involve hands-on programming that will culminate in an independent final project. It is strongly suggested that students take PSY3801: Introduction to Psychological Measurement and Data Analysis prior to taking this course, but it is not required.

5. *Credit* Personality Psychology Undergraduate Research Assistant Starting Fall 2021

Are you interested in learning more about personality – how we differ from one another and how we might change across time? Are you interested in statistics and research methods? The NICE lab, run by Dr. Moin Syed, is seeking undergraduate research assistants for the Fall semester. You will be working directly with Linh Nguyen, a graduate student in Personality Psychology, with a research focus on Personality, Identity, and Measurement. We highly encourage early engagement and no prior experience is required – only interest and commitment to learning! More information about what to expect may be found here. Please fill out this application form and email Linh at nguy4006@umn.edu along with your CV/resume and unofficial transcript. 6. *Credit or Volunteer* Summer and Fall RAs Needed for Multiple Studies in Developmental Psychology

The Developmental Social Cognitive Neuroscience Lab (DSCN) is seeking undergraduate research assistants for Summer and Fall 2021. Our research focuses primarily on executive function skills in children. Research assistants will contribute to ongoing projects investigating relationships between executive function skills and creativity, math, toddler choice, or mindfulness. This position is ideal for students who would like to acquire research experience in the context of developmental psychology, future educators, and those interested in neuroscience and executive function. Typical responsibilities for research assistants include recruitment, data collection, coding, transcription, and data entry. For more info and to download an application, please visit our website. 8. *Credit or Volunteer* Asian, Female RAs Needed for Online Race and Gender Study

Research assistant needed for an online study (for credit or volunteer). Positions open for Summer and Fall 2021 with the possibility to continue into Spring 2022. Preference is given to those that can be available for all three terms. PROJECT: My dissertation is focused on the psychophysiology of social evaluation. A component of this research concerns the role of race and gender in social interactions. As such, we are seeking, in particular, female-identifying RAs of color to facilitate some aspects of the study design. All work will be able to be completed virtually, provided some basic requirements, such as having a quiet, private place to work and stable internet connection. Must have afternoon availability. Because this experiment investigates the role of race and gender, female-identifying RAs of color are needed for several of the available positions, in order to ensure the scientific validity of findings. 9. M.S. Applied Psychology - UW Stout - Still Accepting Applications For Fall 2021 (No GRE Required!)

UW-Stout's Masters of Science degree in Applied Psychology will give you the applied research and data analysis skills to prepare you for a wide range of careers in business, education, non-profits, and other areas. Using psychological theories, principles, and research methods, you will help organizations make data-driven decisions and move towards evidence-based practice. There are three concentrations: Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Evaluation Research, and Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. The concentrations provide additional in-depth classroom and experiential learning in the given focus area. Industrial/Organizational Psychology focuses on the behavior of people at work, specifically employee motivation, personnel research, recruitment and selection, and job design methodology. Evaluation Research focuses on advanced training in program and policy evaluation and professional preparation for evaluation consulting. A majority of students complete requirements for dual concentrations within the two-year program. Health Promotion and Disease Prevention focuses on health promotion and evaluation; health services research; health policy development and evaluation; and behavioral epidemiology. Learn more and submit your application!

10. Quatrefoil Library 2021 Scholarship

The Quatrefoil Library College Scholarship is a one-time, $1,000 scholarship open to all high school seniors or college students who are/will be attending college within the State of Minnesota. Quatrefoil is one of the country’s oldest and largest LGBTQ+ lending libraries and also serves as a community center. The application is due June 30, 2021. Apply and learn more.

11. CLA Job Search Community

The CLA Job Search Community will include five weeks of structured job search content, strategies, practice, and support via Canvas and weekly 1-hour group meetings with other recent grads through Zoom facilitated by CLA career counselors and alumni/employer volunteers. CLA students who are graduating in May 2021 or Summer 2021 are eligible for this opportunity. Sign up and learn more.

12. Think Like a Researcher Mini-Course in May 2021

Think Like a Researcher is designed to help you get started with faculty-sponsored research. It is a free mini-course with videos and short activities. We will host an optional Zoom Q&A session, too. Once you register, we will send you updates with the next steps. It takes 2-3 hours to complete on your own timeline. Please register by Friday, May 14th.

13. Summer of EngageMNt

The Summer of EngageMNt program provides opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students from across the University's five-campus system to apply and develop their leadership skills in response to current and emerging community needs. The initiative is coordinated by the University's Office for Public Engagement (OPE), in collaboration with the Center for Community-Engaged Learning (CCEL). Participating students are matched with community partners to work on service assignments that address a broad range of societal issues. The program also includes weekly education and reflection sessions led by staff members from OPE and CCEL. Learn more and apply.

16. Biological Sciences Laboratory Technician in The Bunney Lab at the Minneapolis VA

The Bunney lab is interested in taking what we know about drugs of abuse and addiction to inform the treatment and understanding of obesity. The current focus of the lab is to evaluate minor tobacco alkaloids, which are similar in composition, neural activation, and behavioral effects to nicotine, as potential pharmacotherapies for obesity. The laboratory technician will conduct research on the behavioral, neural, and physiological basis of obesity and addiction. They will be involved in the daily operations of the laboratory, including miscellaneous administrative duties and the management of research project expenditures. They will be expected to independently perform a variety of standardized tests and routine procedures, many of which are covered by established methods, procedures, and techniques. 18. Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute (HHRI) Scientist Position

The Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute (HHRI) has an immediate opening for a full-time Scientist – either at the Assistant or Associate level - to support preclinical research on drug addiction being conducted at Hennepin Healthcare. At the HHRI, we have been actively investigating the causes of and potential treatments for diseases since 1952. We support and oversee the medical research conducted at HCMC, an acute care research and teaching hospital located in downtown Minneapolis. In an academic environment that emphasizes patient care, research, and teaching, HHRI helps offer patients better care now and hope for improved healthcare in the future. HHRI is the third-largest medical research non-profit in Minnesota and ranks in the top seven percent nationally of all institutions receiving research grants from the National Institutes of Health. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. 19. Student Tech Support Services - Department of Psychology!

Set up Psy 1001 computer for lectures, maintain sound, lights, and computer functioning throughout lectures. (All professors have trouble starting videos, so the media aide will help them.) May be required to provide back-up for video-capture. Related tasks as assigned. The position is restricted to students admitted to an undergraduate degree program at the University of Minnesota. Students must be registered and maintain the minimum number of UM required credits. Once a bachelor's degree is earned, the person becomes ineligible for this position.
