In mid-May, CLA Career Services hosted another successful week of industry-based projects through its Get Ready Program, which provides students with short-term, real-world job experiences that help them become more competitive for future career opportunities.

Small teams of liberal arts students received professional assignments at 12 local employer sites, which included the Bakken Museum, Be The Match, and Polaris.

From May 11-17, 2023, 54 students worked independently and with industry experts to complete their projects. The projects varied based on industry type and student’s career field preferences. Some examples of projects include clinical observation & data collection, social media marketing, and teaching digital literacy.

One of 12 organizations involved in the May Get Ready Program was Led by TRUTH. Led by TRUTH is a non-profit organization that creates a growth-oriented space for BIPOC entrepreneurs to thrive by pursuing their passions. The organization forges opportunities for clients to build their path of success through their supportive programs like mentoring and business coaching.

The Led By TRUTH project team worked on a marketing storytelling campaign relating to the communications & media career field. Students shared stories of community impact of local businesses & Founders of Color through social media content creation and interviewed Founders to capture their stories through video testimonials.

At the end of the week, groups present their projects to their respective employer partners in a project showcase. The Led By TRUTH group presented their finished portfolio to the organization’s Founder and CEO, Angel Even.
