When I reflect on my own journey through college, I remember a lot of anxiety, uncertainty, and questioning. I was so unsure about my academic and career interests during my first year that I seriously considered everything from astronomy, to community health, to English, to dance (mind you, I wasn’t even a dancer…). I felt lost and alone in these big decisions.
It wasn’t until the end of college that I had a chance encounter (AKA, requirement for a class) with the campus career center and discovered that people don’t just magically appear on college campuses–they can actually choose to study and work in higher education! That career coaching appointment, plus seeing the lengths my academic advisor was willing to go for my graduation timeline, both showed me that a lot of really cool, encouraging people work in higher education to support college students through their development, and I was inspired to become one of those people myself.
Struggling to navigate college myself equipped me with a lens of empathy and understanding for the challenges students face every day; through my work, I hope to provide a welcoming environment where you can show up authentically and feel validated, celebrated, heard, and supported.
When it comes to career development, I take a holistic, transformative approach that seeks to integrate career into an overall flourishing life. I believe career development is ongoing and lifelong, as there are always opportunities to learn and evolve over our lifetime. I’m here to meet you wherever you’re at in your career journey, and I look forward to working with you toward your unique goals!
As work is only part of my life, outside of CLA Career Services, you can find me engaging in anything artsy (my current obsession is crocheting), jamming to music, watching TV/movies, reading, writing, trying out new recipes, or going for a lovely little walk.
