Placement
Proficiency Exams
Students are able to take the Hmong Language Proficiency Exam (LPE) to demonstrate proficiency in Hmong equivalent to the fourth semester and fulfill the CLA Second Language requirement. Upon receiving passing status, the Hmong LPE scores can also be used to determine a students' placement in the Hmong Language Program. Completion of the LPE fulfills the CLA Second Language requirement and is noted on students' transcripts. Students who do not want to take the LPE can also meet with an instructor to be placed in the appropriate Hmong course.
Hmong LPEs are offered on fixed dates at the start of fall and spring semester. To register for an LPE, visit the Language Testing Program.
