Human Rights Initiative 2020 Report
We are excited to release the 2020 Human Rights Initiative (HRI) Report and its accompanying Index! (Click the two links to redirect to the documents.)
While the 2020 academic year has brought challenges to some of our projects, it has also highlighted the critical need for human rights research. This report highlights the Human Rights Initiative’s collective accomplishments in a world where human rights are under threat.
The Report and Index, which includes a more detailed breakdown of the results, compile the diverse achievements of the HRI projects - ranging from the academic, to the artistic, to the political. Among other accomplishments, these results include 22 academic papers, 39 formal presentations, and five international advocacy efforts. They are the outcomes of 17 HRI grants, totaling over $600,000 that has been awarded for human rights research.
The Human Rights Initiative (HRI) supports interdisciplinary human rights-based research by providing direct funding to University of Minnesota faculty engaged in this work. The effort, which is a collaboration between the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) and the Humphrey School of Public Affairs (HHH), seeks to strengthen the human rights practice and profession by championing groundbreaking engaged research.
