I am a sociologist and demographer interested in public policy and life course health. I am an Associate Professor in the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health with an affiliate appointment in the Department of Sociology. I am also the Associate Director of the Minnesota Population Center. I study how housing policy can improve health and well-being and reduce inequalities across the life course. My work examines how public housing and housing choice voucher programs are related to physical and mental health, environmental risk exposures, neighborhood attainment, dementia, and diabetes control, and considers how these programs might reduce racial/ethnic and economic disparities. I am an active user of and advocate for linked data in population research.
