As a sociology or sociology of law, criminology, and justice major, you will investigate social institutions, such as families, education, work, health care, law, and the economy.

Students majoring in sociology or sociology of law, criminology, and justice will investigate social institutions such as families, education, work, health care, law, and the economy. They learn how societies maintain order and to uncover, understand, and combat societal inequalities. Our students gain knowledge and skills from courses led by our award-winning faculty as well as real-world experiences like internships, study abroad, student research, and community engagement.

What Can You Do With a Major in Sociology?

Majoring in sociology is an excellent pathway to a career in social service, education, health and healthcare, policy analysis, marketing, management, entrepreneurship, government, or non-profit administration. Our major programs are also an excellent foundation for law school or graduate programs in just about any field.
