Community Engagement

Students in communication studies have been involved in many projects in the larger urban community. They have interned with local organizations including the Harriet Tubman Center, the Minneapolis American Indian Center, and Urban Ventures. Workshop coordination and youth activity leadership are the most common uses of our students’ talents, but they are by no means the only potential positions available.

We believe that for our students to become better citizens, articulate communicators, critical thinkers, and able advocates, involvement in the greater community is very important. This can take the form of an internship with a local non-profit or an outreach position as a part of a team. Students are encouraged to explore the many ways of getting involved through the Office of Student Engagement.
