As a French studies student, you will have the opportunity to acquire an advanced proficiency in one of the most frequently spoken languages in the world. 110 million people speak French as their native language and 190 million more learn it as a second language. French is the official language in 29 countries; it is the official language of several notable international organizations, including the African Union, the European Commission (executive body of the European Union), the Organization of American States, the International Criminal Court, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent, Doctors Without Borders, Interpol, the International Olympic Committee, and numerous other organizations for professions, arts, sports, and games.
