MA in French Studies

The first two years of our program—culminating in a comprehensive MA exam—provide training in the French and Francophone literary tradition, building the foundation for more specialized study and research at the doctoral level. Through coursework, you will increase your expertise in textual analysis and critical methods, gain greater knowledge of the historical and social context that shapes literature, and begin working with faculty advisors.

Graduate reading groups and departmental lectures will expose you to current developments in our field, while your research skills will be honed through workshops on the basic methodologies, ethics, and practices of the academic profession.
