5. Destress Event with PAWS!

6. Registration Open for the 58th Annual Minnesota Undergraduate Psychology Conference (MUPC)

Carleton College is thrilled to announce that registration is officially open for MUPC 2024 which will be held on Saturday, April 27th, 2024. Faculty can register here. Students can register here. Students can request to present an oral presentation or a poster here. Note that in addition to submitting empirical work, students are also welcome to present literature reviews, meta-analyses, systematic reviews, or other types of projects based on literature analysis. 8. Health Professional School Expo

This event allows students to learn about various health careers and network with admissions representatives from medical schools, dentistry schools, pharmacy schools, and other health programs from across the country. The Health Professional School Expo is open for University of Minnesota students from all system campuses, as well as undergraduate pre-health students at colleges and universities in the region. Students can pre-register now for the 2024 Health Professional School Expo via Handshake. There will be on-site registration at the event; you will be asked to swipe your card there even if you have registered ahead of time.

10. 44th Annual Winchell Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Winchell Undergraduate Research Symposium prepares college students from across Minnesota and nearby states to enter STEM fields by providing a forum to present their research, explore graduate school and career options, and learn from peers and STEM professionals. In addition to the student research oral presentations and poster sessions, panel discussions by STEM industry professionals, STEM graduate & professional students, as well as an outdoor session with wildlife capture/animal handling (weather permitting). The early-bird registration fee of $75 is available through March 16. Registration fee after March 16 is $100. Registration information is included on their website. Student presenters will receive feedback from faculty/STEM professional judges, and awards will be given to top presentations and posters. 11. Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Undergraduate Research Symposium is an annual research fair held every Spring that gives all undergraduate researchers from all University of Minnesota campuses a chance to share their research, scholarly, and creative projects with the University community. Presented by the Office of Undergraduate Research, the Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium will take place in Coffman Memorial Union’s Great Hall on Thursday, April 18, 2024. This is a chance for students to present their research findings to the University Community and make new connections. Registration is open and closes on April 5, 2024. Register today!

12. Connect with Minnesota Youth Conducting Behavioral Health Research

The Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair is an annual event where hundreds of middle and high school students from across Minnesota present the results of their original research to STEM professionals, gaining valuable feedback. We are currently recruiting judges for the in-person 2024 State Science and Engineering Fair at the St Paul River Centre on Friday, March 22. Click here to register as a grand award judge if you have a background in social science or the STEM field. Even undergraduate students can help as middle school judges! Each year, judges must create a new login. Judges arrive by 10 a.m. and finish their tasks by 3:30 p.m. at the earliest. Questions? Email jenhadley@mnmas.org.

13. Volunteer to Be A History Day Judge

National History Day in Minnesota, a longstanding partnership between the Minnesota Historical Society and the College of Liberal Arts, needs judges for various regional competitions in March and State History Day which takes place at the Minneapolis Convention Center on April 20 (this event is normally hosted on the Twin Cities campus but there were some challenges to making that happen in 2024). Here is a list of the regional competitions, which include two opportunities on the Twin Cities campus and many others within the Twin Cities. Judges only need an interest in history, be able to interact with young people, have a critical eye, and be able to give constructive feedback. 14. Free Mental Health First Aid Training - Washburn Center for Children

The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) program educates community members in emotional well-being, de-escalation of crises, and appropriate and safe responses to youth experiencing mental health challenges. After the training, you will know: What to do, how to act, and how to handle when kids are in a high-stress situation or mental health crisis. The different areas of mental health. How to interpret distress in kids, and how to de-escalate and support them. Mental Health First Aid requires a time commitment of a full day, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Learners receive their training during an Instructor-led, in-person session. We will gladly add you to a future session that works better. Free training dates include March 8, 2024, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., April 8, 2024, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or May 4, 2024, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Washburn Center’s Training Institute on 1100 Glenwood Ave. Course fees are generously covered by a grant from SAMHSA’s Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) program. 15. PFund Scholarship Application Open!

PFund is now accepting applications for 2024 scholarship funds. From G.E.D. to Ph.D., we support queer students in and from the Upper Midwest pursuing professional or post-secondary education. 16. Obama Voyager Scholarship

Applications for the 2024 Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarships are now open and are due on March 27. This scholarship is open to students with demonstrated financial need and two years of full-time study left to complete their undergraduate degree program. Scholars will receive up to $25K for each of their two remaining years plus $10K to support a summer work/study/research experience in between. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to a career in public service and must have US citizen, permanent resident, or DACA status. The Obama Foundation will award 100 scholarships nationally. This will be the third year for this scholarship and UMTC students have been recipients in each of the previous years. Learn more about the scholarship here.

20. UC Irvine Psychological Science Post-Bacc Program - Application Open

The Department of Psychological Science at the University of California, Irvine is currently accepting applications for their post-baccalaureate program; the deadline to apply for Fall 2024 is April 15, 2024, for domestic students (February 15, 2024, for international students). UCI’s Post-Bacc Program in Psychological Science is a certificate program that combines psychology coursework with research and/or internship experience. It is designed for people who have a bachelor’s degree (in any discipline); who are interested in a psychology-related graduate program, career development, or career change; and who could benefit from additional coursework, research, and/or real-life work experience in psychology. Those interested in a doctoral-level or master’s degree programs in a range of areas of psychology (including clinical/counseling psychology, social/personality psychology, developmental psychology, health psychology, psychology & the law, and school psychology) or health (e.g., public health, medical school) can strengthen their graduate school applications by completing our program, which offers an individualized course of study based on each person’s qualifications and goals. 21. *Credit or Volunteer* Research Opportunity in I/O Psychology

Are you interested in Psychology research? Have you ever wondered how an individual's personality can influence how they behave on the job? The Ones Lab in the I-O Psychology Department is seeking conscientious and motivated students to volunteer for our project on Personality and workplace deviance. We are researching the relationship between the various sub-facets of personality and how they influence an individual's likelihood to engage in various forms of counterproductive work behaviors. This is important as it allows us to better maintain a friendly and cooperative environment at the workplace! Students will participate in identifying, retrieving, and organizing studies, as well as coding relevant research for a quantitative synthesis. We prefer a summer and fall semester commitment. Interested students should submit this Google form, including a CV & unofficial transcript. Students who have taken courses in I-O psychology, quantitative methods, and individual differences (e.g., personality, abilities) will be preferred. Honors students who are interested in completing their theses using data from this experience or who are interested in seeking UROP funding for related research are encouraged to apply. 22. *Credit* PSY 5993 - Summer 2024

Students will work on a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Research Project. Through this study, students will gain skills related to conducting a literature review, creating a code book to capture student perceptions and attitudes toward learning, and designing a study. Most work will be completed asynchronously, though occasional Zoom meetings (based on student availability will be necessary to ensure training is complete and to discuss progress on assignments. ACR Homes is hiring psychology students to become Direct Care Professionals! Apply today for positions starting anytime in the next 6 months. Summer too! You would work in a home setting alongside a co-worker to care for 4 people who have disabilities. You will get the chance to gain DIRECT PATIENT CARE HOURS by caring for the medical, emotional, and physical needs of the residents as well as enjoying fun activities with them on your shifts. ACR is flexible for students, 12-16hrs/week (shifts are 4, 6, or 8hrs) but of course, you could work more. Starting pay is $15-$21/hr depending on the shift you work, paid training, and we have locations near campus, and you don't need to have a car! 25. Bell Museum is Hiring - Grand Rapids Camp Coordinator

The Camp Coordinator works with summer camp and ROC staff to create a safe, engaging, age-appropriate, and positive learning environment for campers. This position is responsible for supporting communication with campers and guardians, maintaining attendance and daily camp rosters, and assisting with camp during the Bell Museum’s statewide summer camps. This position will occasionally assist the Lead Educator & Coordinator with facilitating educational experiences centered on environmental science, natural history, and agriculture for children entering 2nd - 6th grade. Bell Museum statewide camps are a collaborative effort between the Bell Museum and select University of Minnesota Research and Outreach Centers. This position is based in Grand Rapids, MN. In addition to camp hours at our primary location at NCROC in Grand Rapids, there will be required travel to Crookston, MN, and Lamberton, MN for 1 - 3 days of additional camp programming. 26. Research Assistant - TRAIN Lab at Minneapolis VA Medical Center

We have an opening at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System for a full-time Research Assistant to assist with interventional and observational research studies. The studies are being conducted by Kelvin Lim, MD, and Casey Gilmore, PhD at the Technology and Research Applications in Neuromodulation (TRAIN) Lab located on the campus of the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Research involves the use of technology including transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroencephalography (EEG), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This position will require working directly with clinical patients in a research capacity. Responsibilities include assisting with all aspects of research study execution including recruitment, screening, assessment, and data entry. 27. Study Coordinator Position - Suicide Prevention in Veterans Research

We are seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and detail-oriented person to be a local site study coordinator in a multi-site, randomized control trial in the laboratory of Dr. Snezana Urosevic. Dr. Urosevic is a site PI for the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. The study examines a telehealth case management intervention for veterans at risk for suicide during the transition period after discharge from inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. We request that applicants are willing to make a commitment to the lab for Summer and Fall on a part-time schedule (approximately 20 hours/week in Summer and 10 hours/week in the Fall) with the potential for extension based on fit. The study coordinator is responsible for local site participant recruitment occurring on the inpatient psychiatric unit, obtaining informed consent from participants, survey data collection and entry, and maintenance of local and central IRB records. They will work collaboratively with the main site and other satellite sites to meet recruitment goals. Opportunities include learning about study coordination, randomized control trials, and research areas of suicide prevention and telehealth interventions. There are possibilities to get involved in other active projects within the lab, such as digital phenotyping in bipolar disorders research. Competitive applicants will have a strong interest in pursuing graduate-level education and an excellent academic record.
