1. Countdown to Registration - 4 Weeks Out

Registration is right around the corner! Psych Advising is here to help. With registration about a month away, this is a great time to start reviewing your APAS and thinking about what classes you might take for the Fall semester (as a reminder, summer registration is currently open!). Appointments are currently available to meet with a Psych Advisor. We recommend scheduling sooner than later if you would like to meet with Psych Advising because our office can become very busy once registration starts!

6. Central Office Student Assistant - Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology Central Office seeks to hire a Central Office Student Assistant. The student assistant is responsible for management, organization, and guest relations of the Central Office in the Department of Psychology. This is a great position to learn more about the department overall and meet the faculty of the Psych Department! 11. Health Professional School Expo

The Health Professional School Expo will take place in a virtual format on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022! The Health Professional School Expo will showcase health professional degree programs together from around the country. Their admissions representatives will be available to meet with pre-health students from the University of Minnesota. This event features health professional schools and colleges around the U.S, representing a variety of health degree programs, such as medicine, pharmacy, physicians assistant, public health, optometry, etc. This event will be hosted in Handshake. Student registration is open now. A list of participating schools is available on the Handshake event page. Scholarships

12. CLA General Scholarships

CLA general scholarship awards range from $2,000 to $16,000 per year, for one to three years starting with the 2022-23 academic year. The Psychology Mortensen Scholarships (Academic and Study Abroad) are included in this application process! Be sure to get started on your applications and apply by Monday, April 4, 2022, at 9:00 am CST. Learning Abroad Scholarship applications are due Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 9:00 am CSTApply online.

13. The Nonprofit Scholarship

Do you have a dream of working in the nonprofit world? Are you passionate about raising funds for a worthy cause? If so, the Nonprofit Scholarship may help you reach that goal. The Nonprofit Scholarship (up to $2,000.00 award) recognizes and supports students who have a passion for nonprofit work that makes the world a better place. Applications for the scholarship are encouraged from students in all UMTC undergraduate colleges. 14. Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Undergraduate Research Symposium is an annual research fair held every Spring that gives all undergraduate researchers from all University of Minnesota campuses a chance to share their research, scholarly, and creative projects with the University community. 15. Winchell Undergraduate Research Symposium & MAS Annual Meeting

Preparing undergraduates to enter STEM fields by providing a forum for students to showcase their scientific research, receive comments from professional scientists and peers, and network with professionals in the fields they aspire to enter. The symposium includes a keynote lecture, student presentations, breakout sessions, and the MAS Annual Meeting. All undergraduate students in MN and nearby states engaged in original research are welcome to attend. Each attendee must register individually. 16. The 2022 Minnesota Undergraduate Psychology Conference at Macalester College

MUPC is the oldest undergraduate psychology conference in the United States. The conference provides a forum for the presentation of original research, applications, and conceptual papers by undergraduates in psychology from around the state and surrounding areas. Planning to attend MUPC? Anyone who plans to attend (Students, Staff, or Faculty) must register using this form. This year, registration is open from March 04, 2022, to April 11, 2022. Should MUPC 2022 need to switch from in-person to online, Macalester College will announce that your registration using this form has now changed to an online event (still to be held on April 30, 2022). If this occurs, know also that the notification will be made well in advance, and no later than April 8, 2022.

17. *Credit or Volunteer* RA Position with a Longitudinal Study of Resilience in Military Service Members

The Advancing Research on Mechanisms of Resilience (ARMOR) Project, under the direction of Dr. Melissa Polusny at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, is looking for research assistants for the 2021-2022 school year and beyond! The current longitudinal study examines processes contributing to resilience in military personnel. Research assistants who join the ARMOR Project will receive extensive training and gain hands-on experience conducting a large cohort study that utilizes evidence-based longitudinal tracking and survey methods. This is a volunteer position and requires a minimum of 10-12 hours per week commitment onsite at the Minneapolis VA and attendance at our in-person weekly lab meeting. Students accepted to the lab can apply to receive research credit for the course PSY 4993 after committing 2-3 months as a volunteer. Preference will be given to students who have a minimum GPA of 3.5, are available year-round, and are able to make a multiple-semester commitment. Veterans or those with experience working with veterans or the military may be given priority. 20. Research Assistant Position Available at the Minneapolis VA

The Technology and Research Applications in Neuromodulation (TRAIN Lab) at the Minneapolis VA is looking for a full-time, salaried research assistant. The research assistant would assist on several studies under the direction of Dr. Kelvin Lim, M.D. Current studies involve assessment of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), and electroencephalography (EEG). Patient populations include Veterans with brain injury, depression, substance use, and obesity. Research assistant responsibilities will include conducting medical record reviews, recruiting study subjects, consenting and conducting study assessments, entering and analyzing data, and other tasks as needed. Qualified candidates must have a bachelor's degree by spring 2022, be extremely detail-oriented, able to work independently and handle shifting priorities, as well as possess strong communication (written and oral) skills. 21. Research Assistant - Hwang Lab at the University of Iowa

The Hwang Lab at the University of Iowa is seeking a full-time researcher to assist our human cognitive neuroscience research projects. The research assistant is expected to execute cognitive neuroscience research protocols under the direction of the lab director and assist EEG/fMRI studies on cognitive control functions. 22. Advanced Clerical Support - Neuropsychology

The Adult Neuropsychology Division of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine seeks undergraduate assistance to digitize patient testing files and build a new research database. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the clinical assessments that neuropsychologists use and will observe how brain diseases such as dementia and Parkinson's Disease affect cognitive functioning. We are in the beginning stages of building a patient database for future research and students will be instrumental in getting data into the system to move projects forward. 23. Technical/Data Study Coordinator - University of Minnesota

Dr. Adriana Hughes' team is looking for a Technical/Data Study Coordinator (Research Professional 1) for her Aging-Well research study. This position will work independently and within the team to coordinate and carry out technical components of the study protocol, including: set up, deployment, and maintenance of study technologies in the homes of older adult participants; communication with older adult participants to troubleshoot technical problems with study technologies; monitoring incoming data from study technologies and reporting regularly to study PI and other study staff; managing and coordinating inventory of study technologies; entering and managing study device data and participant IDs in a Redcap database and cross-referencing and record-keeping in other study tracking tools; maintaining and distributing weekly and monthly Qualtrics surveys to participants and following up with reminder or troubleshooting calls as needed. More information and job posting can be found online.

25. Service to Science Scholars Summer Research Institute - Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care System

The Mental Health Service Line at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System through support from the Department of VA Office of Research and Development (ORD) hosts a Veteran and Military-Connected Student Summer Research Program in Mental Health Research. VA and ORD recognize that Veterans are underrepresented among scientists pursuing VA mission-critical behavioral science research. Prior research experience is not required, just an interest and curiosity about the scientific process. Additional opportunities to continue with research involvement for class credit during the school year may be available. This program is open to undergraduate (junior or senior standing) students in psychology and related health science fields who have strong academic records (minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale). Preference will be given to applicants who have completed Research Methods or related course prior to application. Students who are interested in pursuing research careers and have an interest in Veteran mental health research are especially encouraged to apply. Program participants must be a US Veteran, a member of the military armed services, or child of a US Veteran, and a US citizen. Applications will also be considered from students from groups that have been historically underrepresented in science as defined by the National Science Foundation.
