1. Psychology Undergraduate Town Hall

The Psychology Department is hosting the Spring 22 Town Hall for undergraduate students. The goal of these town halls is to connect students directly with the Department of Psychology leadership. If you are interested in attending, please fill out the Google Form to RSVP. If you are unable to attend this event, you can leave comments/questions in the form; feedback will be shared anonymously at the Town Hall. The town hall won't be recorded, however, meeting minutes will be shared out afterwards. Meeting minutes for past Town Halls can be found here.

2. Get to Know Your Faculty: Homing in on Health Psych

This spring semester, we are featuring Dr. Traci Mann, from the social psychology area. Dr. Mann teaches PSY 3206 Health Psychology and PSY 4206 Interventions for Health and Wellness. She also runs the Health and Eating Lab and has even collaborated with NASA in the past to prevent weight loss in astronauts! 5. Research Ethics Week

Research Ethics Week is an annual week-long series of college and department-led educational opportunities focused on professional development and best practices to promote, maintain, and model high standards of ethics and integrity in research. 6. Intro to Designing Conference Posters

This workshop is meant to help the beginning researcher or presenter put together their conference poster and prepare it for a digital or in-person conference. Software used to create the posters will be PowerPoint and Google Slides. RSVP for the Zoom link.

7. Health Professional School Expo

The Health Professional School Expo will take place in a virtual format on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022! The Health Professional School Expo will showcase health professional degree programs together from around the country. Their admissions representatives will be available to meet with pre-health students from the University of Minnesota. This event features health professional schools and colleges around the U.S, representing a variety of health degree programs, such as medicine, pharmacy, physicians assistant, public health, optometry, etc. This event will be hosted in Handshake. Student registration is open now. A list of participating schools is available on the Handshake event page. 8. CLA General Scholarships

CLA general scholarship awards range from $2,000 to $16,000 per year, for one to three years starting with the 2022-23 academic year. The Psychology Mortensen Scholarships (Academic and Study Abroad) are included in this application process! Be sure to get started on your applications and apply by Monday, April 4, 2022, at 9:00 am CST. Learning Abroad Scholarship applications are due Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 9:00 am CSTApply online.

9. Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Undergraduate Research Symposium is an annual research fair held every Spring that gives all undergraduate researchers from all University of Minnesota campuses a chance to share their research, scholarly, and creative projects with the University community. Students who wish to present at the Undergraduate Research Symposium can register with the link below. Please review the details under "Info for Presenters" before you register. The registration form will close on March 25.

10. Winchell Undergraduate Research Symposium & MAS Annual Meeting

Preparing undergraduates to enter STEM fields by providing a forum for students to showcase their scientific research, receive comments from professional scientists and peers, and network with professionals in the fields they aspire to enter. The symposium includes a keynote lecture, student presentations, breakout sessions, and the MAS Annual Meeting. All undergraduate students in MN and nearby states engaged in original research are welcome to attend. Each attendee must register individually. Interested in presenting? Proposals are due March 27th. If you're interested in attending, RSVP by March 27th for early bird. Final registrations are due April 9th.

11. Summer Research Institute - Florida Mental Health Institute

The Summer Research Institute (SRI@FMHI) is designed for students interested in building their research skills within the context of substance use and co-occurring disorders to help them prepare for a Senior Thesis and/or graduate school. The SRI@FMHI consists of four components: an independent research project conducted with guidance from a distinguished faculty mentor; research seminars; professional development seminars; and skill-building workshops. The research seminars will complement the research that students are conducting with their faculty mentors. Throughout the 11-week period, students will work intensively with faculty mentors on their research projects. In addition, students will gain experience with research ethics, IRB practices, and will participate in a community rotation to gain experience with substance use services in an area related to their research projects. 12. *Credit or Volunteer* RA Position with a Longitudinal Study of Resilience in Military Service Members

The Advancing Research on Mechanisms of Resilience (ARMOR) Project, under the direction of Dr. Melissa Polusny at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System is looking for research assistants for the 2021-2022 school year and beyond! The current longitudinal study examines processes contributing to resilience in military personnel. Research assistants who join the ARMOR Project will receive extensive training and gain hands-on experience conducting a large cohort study that utilizes evidence-based longitudinal tracking and survey methods. This is a volunteer position and requires a minimum of 10-12 hours per week commitment onsite at the Minneapolis VA and attendance at our in-person weekly lab meeting. Students accepted to the lab can apply to receive research credit for the course PSY 4993 after committing 2-3 months as a volunteer. Preference will be given to students who have a minimum GPA of 3.5, are available year-round, and are able to make a multiple-semester commitment. Veterans or those with experience working with veterans or the military may be given priority. 13. Discover Dental School: Preparing to Apply Program Application

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry will be hosting the Discover Dental School program for predental students Wednesday, June 1 - Wednesday, June 22, 2022. The program will run part-time, with some sessions occurring during the day (around lunchtime, if possible) as well as evenings and/or weekends - to enable more prospective dental students to participate who may already have summer plans. This program is free for participants! The exact format of the program is still TBD, plan for a hybrid experience. Students selected to participate in this program will be provided with training, resources, and experiences to strengthen their skills and assist them in creating a competitive application to dental school. Experiences will include DAT prep, connecting with current dental students, and hands-on activities. The application deadline is Sunday, March 6, 2022, @ 11:59 pm CST - no late or incomplete applications will be accepted/considered. The application includes required essays and one letter of recommendation that must also be submitted by the deadline. Read more and apply online.

14. CLA Career Services Offering Night Drop-Ins!

NEW evening hours virtually on Wednesday nights 6:00 pm- 9:00 pm. Peer Advisor drop-in hours are Monday-Friday 10:00 am- 4:00 pm in 411 Bruininks Hall and 12:00 pm-4:00 pm and Wednesdays 6:00 pm- 9:00 pm virtually. Drop-ins are typically 10-15 min. long and are a great fit for students who want assistance with resumes, job searching, or help getting started on any other caterer topic.

15. Reset. Relax. Restore. with RecWell

NEW during the 2022 Spring semester through RecWell, Reset. Relax. Restore. provides students with pathways to build skills for managing mental health, whether they want to engage in-person or via online classes. Students can choose to explore one or more programs, ranging from drop-in meditation classes to a weekend workshop, and five-week courses. Completed together or sampled separately, each component of Reset. Relax. Restore. can shape the habits and behaviors that impact one’s wellbeing. Students are welcome to sample one or more program offerings.

16. WATCH Court Monitoring

WATCH became part of The Advocates for Human Rights in June 2019. WATCH has been monitoring Hennepin County Courts for more than two decades and has recently added court monitoring in Ramsey and Washington counties. Its established court monitoring of trafficking cases complements The Advocates' decade of work to combat sex trafficking in Minnesota. Without monitoring and accountability, systems fail to protect women. By integrating new and existing volunteers, The Advocates will continue to use court monitoring and documentation to change and implement laws to end violence against women. Learn more and apply today.

17. Behavior Therapist - Behavioral Dimensions

Behavioral Dimensions provides intensive services to children with autism and related conditions. We are currently hiring undergraduate, college graduates, and graduate students from colleges and universities studying in a wide variety of human services fields. We at Behavioral Dimensions believe that the experiences we can offer students gives them excellent opportunities to apply what they are learning in the classroom to real-life situations. Students will learn how to implement research-based behavioral techniques to teach young children a wide variety of skills as well as how to prevent and respond to challenging situations. Students receive many hours of training and support by professionals from several different disciplines, all with experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis. Many jobs in the human services field require a degree, internship, and experience in order to be hired. We can assist in providing the required hours of experience and the internship while students are completing their degrees. All of our services are provided in the families’ homes, so we are able to place employees close to their homes throughout the metropolitan area. In some cases, we are able to provide the training and supervision required for specific internships and practicums. 19. Behavioral Technician - Central Care Service Inc.

Central Care Service Inc. (located on 3355 Hiawatha Ave. Minneapolis, MN) is hiring Behavior Technicians! This is a great opportunity for those with majors/minors in Developmental Psychology or related fields to get first-hand experience working under a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. No previous experience or training is required, as you will be trained after hire. Behavior Technicians work one-on-one with children on the autism spectrum, using ABA therapy to help clients reach their individual goals. Goals include skills such as social communication, motor skills, etc. Starting pay is $18-20/hour, and preference is given to those who can work about 20 hours per week. 20. Clinical Research Associate I - Warren Neuroscience Lab at the University of Nebraska Medical Center

The Warren Neuroscience Lab at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is currently accepting applications for a clinical research associate. The research associate will work with the principal investigator (PI) and the research team to develop, implement, coordinate, and conduct scholarly research projects. Dr. David E. Warren's lab focuses on novel investigations of memory and cognitive functions in neurological, medical, and healthy aging populations using neuropsychological, neuroimaging, and eye-tracking methods. The Minnesota Department of Human Services has paid internship opportunities for college students to explore a rewarding career in public service. Our agency helps provide essential services to Minnesota’s most vulnerable residents. Working with many groups and people to ensure that Minnesota seniors, people with disabilities, children, and others meet their basic needs and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. The Executive Pathways Internship Program focuses on a diverse workforce by developing the talents of students as they prepare for professional employment. Graduate and undergraduate students majoring in public policy, statistics, psychology, social work, law, public health, sociology, and other human services-related fields are encouraged to apply and have the opportunity to learn how public policy is developed and implemented at a large and complex government organization. Through this internship program, students have the chance to be part of many well-publicized and highly visible policy decisions that impact Minnesotans' quality of life. Each placement is designed to provide in-depth learning opportunities in a state government setting. The Executive Pathways Internship Program is a paid internship program and students will work 30 to 40 hours per week between June to August.
