1. Countdown to Fall 2024 Registration - 2 Weeks Out

We are about two weeks out from registration! Registration starts on April 11th. At this point, you have received your registration time. You can check your registration time on your MyU account. Appointments are currently available to meet with a Psych Advisor. We recommend scheduling sooner rather than later if you would like to meet with Psych Advising because our office can become very busy once registration starts!

6. Destress Event with PAWS!

10. Jessica Cronce, PhD - Individual-Focused Prevention of Alcohol-Related Harms Among Young Adult College Students - Colloquium Series

Jessica M. Cronce, Ph.D., received her degree in clinical psychology from Yale University in 2009. She completed her internship and postdoctoral fellowship within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington’s School of Medicine before joining the faculty of the University of Oregon in 2015. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling Psychology and Human Services, Director of the Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program, and Director of the Counseling Psychology Center within the HEDCO Clinic. Join Dr. Cronce for her talk, “Individual-focused Prevention of Alcohol-related Harms among Young Adult College Students,” in which she will discuss the current state of college alcohol prevention, her recent work designing and evaluating brief alcohol interventions, and crucial future directions for increasing health equity. 16. 44th Annual Winchell Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Winchell Undergraduate Research Symposium prepares college students from across Minnesota and nearby states to enter STEM fields by providing a forum to present their research, explore graduate school and career options, and learn from peers and STEM professionals. In addition to the student research oral presentations and poster sessions, panel discussions by STEM industry professionals, STEM graduate & professional students, as well as an outdoor session with wildlife capture/animal handling (weather permitting). The early-bird registration fee of $75 is available through March 16. Registration fee after March 16 is $100. Registration information is included on their website. Student presenters will receive feedback from faculty/STEM professional judges, and awards will be given to top presentations and posters. 17. Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Undergraduate Research Symposium is an annual research fair held every Spring that gives all undergraduate researchers from all University of Minnesota campuses a chance to share their research, scholarly, and creative projects with the University community. Presented by the Office of Undergraduate Research, the Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium will take place in Coffman Memorial Union’s Great Hall on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Scholarships & Awards

21. Obama Voyager Scholarship

Applications for the 2024 Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarships are now open and are due on March 27. This scholarship is open to students with demonstrated financial need and two years of full-time study left to complete their undergraduate degree program. Scholars will receive up to $25K for each of their two remaining years plus $10K to support a summer work/study/research experience in between. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to a career of public service and must have US citizen, permanent resident, or DACA status. The Obama Foundation will award 100 scholarships nationally. This will be the third year for this scholarship and UMTC students have been recipients in each of the previous years. Learn more about the scholarship here.

22. The Nonprofit Scholarship

Do you have a dream of working in the nonprofit world? Are you passionate about raising funds for a worthy cause? If so, the Nonprofit Scholarship may help you reach that goal. The Nonprofit Scholarship (up to $3,000.00 award) recognizes and supports students who have a passion for nonprofit work that makes the world a better place. This scholarship honors the lifelong work of Robert Burgett, an inspiring example of genuine care, leadership, and commitment to the nonprofit sector as the Senior Vice President of Development at the University of Minnesota Foundation. Applications for the scholarship are encouraged from students in all UMTC undergraduate colleges. This undergraduate scholarship is awarded to current University of Minnesota Twin Cities juniors and seniors who have demonstrated a dedicated commitment to nonprofit work, strong academic history, and financial need. 28. MS in Health Technology Application Deadline Extended!

29. UC Irvine Psychological Science Post-Bacc Program - Application Open

The Department of Psychological Science at the University of California, Irvine is currently accepting applications for their post-baccalaureate program; the deadline to apply for Fall 2024 is April 15, 2024, for domestic students (February 15, 2024, for international students). UCI’s Post-Bacc Program in Psychological Science is a certificate program that combines psychology coursework with research and/or internship experience. It is designed for people who have a bachelor’s degree (in any discipline); who are interested in a psychology-related graduate program, career development, or career change; and who could benefit from additional coursework, research, and/or real-life work experience in psychology. Those interested in a doctoral-level or master’s degree programs in a range of areas of psychology (including clinical/counseling psychology, social/personality psychology, developmental psychology, health psychology, psychology & the law, and school psychology) or health (e.g., public health, medical school) can strengthen their graduate school applications by completing our program, which offers an individualized course of study based on each person’s qualifications and goals. 30. *Credit or Volunteer* Research Opportunity in I/O Psychology

Are you interested in Psychology research? Have you ever wondered how an individual's personality can influence how they behave on the job? The Ones Lab in the I-O Psychology Department is seeking conscientious and motivated students to volunteer for our project on Personality and workplace deviance. We are researching the relationship between the various sub-facets of personality and how they influence an individual's likelihood to engage in various forms of counterproductive work behaviors. This is important as it allows us to better maintain a friendly and cooperative environment at the workplace! Students will participate in identifying, retrieving, and organizing studies, as well as coding relevant research for a quantitative synthesis. We prefer a summer and fall semester commitment. Interested students should submit this Google form, including a CV & unofficial transcript. Students who have taken courses in I-O psychology, quantitative methods, and individual differences (e.g., personality, abilities) will be preferred. Honors students who are interested in completing their theses using data from this experience or who are interested in seeking UROP funding for related research are encouraged to apply. 31. CAPE is hiring Peer Coaches!

CAPE is hiring 1-2 peer coaches this spring (to start in fall 2024) for 8-10 hours a week. Priority Deadline is April 5th. This position would be an excellent fit for students with a personal and/or professional interest in counseling, teaching, advising, mentoring, and coaching. The Center for Academic Planning and Exploration (CAPE) is designed to provide targeted, “high-touch” academic transition support for students who will most benefit from such assistance – highly undecided students, students desiring competitive majors, and students transitioning from one college to another. CAPE’s mission is to empower undergraduate students to make informed, self-determined choices about their academic plans at the University of Minnesota. Our Peer Coaches staff the CAPE drop-in hours and assist students with getting started on the major exploration process and getting connected to other resources. Peer Coaches also serve as Teaching Assistants for sections of OUE 2001: Academic Planning & Exploration, and assist with grading and facilitating in-person class meetings. This position will begin in late August 2024. Approximately 8-10 hours a week, including coaching during office hours of 9:30 am-4 pm and grading for the OUE 2001 course. 32. Summer Camp Counselor for Neurodivergent Children

33. Research Coordinator Position - Department of Neurology at NYU Langone Health, Headache Division

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for providing a basic to moderate range of coordination for Research studies conducted at the Medical Center. Assists with recruitment, enrollment, grant submissions, research data collection, and study coordination. Performs intra-operative monitoring and serves as liaison with the IRB and the internal and external funding agencies. Ensures accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA, and required obligations to patient/subject, Principal Investigator, research team, and sponsor. Interfaces directly with patients/subjects and Principal Investigators in support of the clinical trials if applicable. Works under general supervision. 34. Research Assistant - TRAIN Lab at Minneapolis VA Medical Center

We have an opening at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System for a full-time Research Assistant to assist with interventional and observational research studies. The studies are being conducted by Kelvin Lim, MD, and Casey Gilmore, PhD at the Technology and Research Applications in Neuromodulation (TRAIN) Lab located on the campus of the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Research involves the use of technology including transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroencephalography (EEG), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This position will require working directly with clinical patients in a research capacity. Responsibilities include assisting with all aspects of research study execution including recruitment, screening, assessment, and data entry. 35. Study Coordinator Position - Suicide Prevention in Veterans Research

We are seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and detail-oriented person to be a local site study coordinator in a multi-site, randomized control trial in the laboratory of Dr. Snezana Urosevic. Dr. Urosevic is a site PI for the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. The study examines a telehealth case management intervention for veterans at risk for suicide during the transition period after discharge from inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. We request that applicants are willing to make a commitment to the lab for Summer and Fall on a part-time schedule (approximately 20 hours/week in Summer and 10 hours/week in the Fall) with the potential for extension based on fit. The study coordinator is responsible for local site participant recruitment occurring on the inpatient psychiatric unit, obtaining informed consent from participants, survey data collection and entry, and maintenance of local and central IRB records. They will work collaboratively with the main site and other satellite sites to meet recruitment goals. Opportunities include learning about study coordination, randomized control trials, and research areas of suicide prevention and telehealth interventions. There are possibilities to get involved in other active projects within the lab, such as digital phenotyping in bipolar disorders research. Competitive applicants will have a strong interest in pursuing graduate-level education and an excellent academic record.
