1. Registration Begins This Week for Fall 2024!

Fall 2024 registration starts this week! Be sure to check your MyU account to find the date and time you can begin to register for classes. To prepare for registration, meet with both your College advisor and Psychology Advising. Keep in mind that registration is the busiest time of year for advisors, and thus appointments tend to fill up 2 weeks in advance. Wait times may be longer depending on your availability as well.

Summer 2024: Registration for Summer 2024 classes opened up on February 22nd. Check out the PSY Class Summer offerings - there are Online and Asynchronous options that make scheduling easier and can reduce your credit load for the upcoming year. There are still seats in many courses -but seats for all of the courses are filling fast- act quickly!

2. 2024-2025 Psychology Undergraduate TA Positions

Each fall and spring, the Department of Psychology selects from a pool of highly qualified undergraduate applicants for paid undergraduate teaching assistant (TA) and section leader (SL) appointments. Serving as a TA or SL is a fantastic professional development opportunity to add to a resume, and it can also provide you with an integrated department experience to highlight on an application to graduate school. Our teaching assistants and section leaders work on average 5-10 hours per week per appointment and will be paid $16.50/hr in the 2024-2025 academic year. 5. Psychology Town Hall Meeting

13. IOPC Student Group - Returning Fall 2024

The Industrial-Organizational Psychology Club (IOPC) is currently recruiting new members and potential leaders for the organization. The group went inactive this 23-24 year, and we are working with a few interested students to revive it for next year! The goal of the I-O Psychology Club is to help undergraduates become more involved in I-O psychology by connecting them to peers, graduate students, and faculty with similar interests. 14. Nutritious U Food Pantry

Location: Memorial Union, Room 103A (first floor behind Goldy Gopher Statue)

The Nutritious U Food Pantry is open the 2nd and 4th full week of the month during the semester. It's open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12 - 5 pm and is located on the 1st floor of Memorial Union (Room 103A), across from the movie theater. Any student can visit the food pantry, no proof of need is required. Students choose from available food items when they show up.

15. 2024 CEHD End of the Year Career Fair

This fair is for students (especially graduating students!) who are looking for full-time employment opportunities starting in May 2024. There will be over 45 organizations present to share full-time opportunities. While the organizations participating in this career fair are related to CEHD undergraduate programs, the nature of our programs allows for a diverse array of career fields to be present. 16. Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Undergraduate Research Symposium is an annual research fair held every Spring that gives all undergraduate researchers from all University of Minnesota campuses a chance to share their research, scholarly, and creative projects with the University community. Presented by the Office of Undergraduate Research, the Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium will take place in Coffman Memorial Union’s Great Hall on Thursday, April 18, 2024. This is a chance for students to present their research findings to the University Community and make new connections. Registration is open and closes on April 5, 2024. Register today!

17. Lavender Celebration

Lavender Celebration is an annual event that recognizes the achievements of graduating queer and trans students. 18. Registration Open for the 58th Annual Minnesota Undergraduate Psychology Conference (MUPC)

Carleton College is thrilled to announce that registration is officially open for MUPC 2024 which will be held on Saturday, April 27th, 2024. Faculty can register here. Students can register here. 20. International Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (IUROP) Scholarship

The International Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (I-UROP) Scholarship is designed to promote learning abroad opportunities to undergraduate students by providing critical funding to students enrolled in select credit-bearing learning abroad programs involving a research project. The deadline for Fall 2024 or the academic year 2024-2025 is May 1, 2024. Visit our website for more information and application instructions. 21. The Nonprofit Scholarship

The Nonprofit Scholarship (up to $3,000.00 award) recognizes and supports students who have a passion for nonprofit work that makes the world a better place. This scholarship honors the lifelong work of Robert Burgett, an inspiring example of genuine care, leadership, and commitment to the nonprofit sector as the Senior Vice President of Development at the University of Minnesota Foundation. Applications for the scholarship are encouraged from students in all UMTC undergraduate colleges. This undergraduate scholarship is awarded to current University of Minnesota Twin Cities juniors and seniors who have demonstrated a dedicated commitment to nonprofit work, strong academic history, and financial need. 23. MS in Health Technology Application Deadline Extended!

Do you want to work in the healthcare field? Do you want to improve the design of technology that supports the health and well-being of individuals? Our one-year, in-person MS in Health Technology program will help you build these skills! Highlights of our program include customizable electives, a capstone project, and small cohorts. 24. UC Irvine Psychological Science Post-Bacc Program - Application Open

The Department of Psychological Science at the University of California, Irvine is currently accepting applications for their post-baccalaureate program; the deadline to apply for Fall 2024 is April 15, 2024, for domestic students (February 15, 2024, for international students). UCI’s Post-Bacc Program in Psychological Science is a certificate program that combines psychology coursework with research and/or internship experience. It is designed for people who have a bachelor’s degree (in any discipline); who are interested in a psychology-related graduate program, career development, or career change; and who could benefit from additional coursework, research, and/or real-life work experience in psychology. Those interested in a doctoral-level or master’s degree programs in a range of areas of psychology (including clinical/counseling psychology, social/personality psychology, developmental psychology, health psychology, psychology & the law, and school psychology) or health (e.g., public health, medical school) can strengthen their graduate school applications by completing our program, which offers an individualized course of study based on each person’s qualifications and goals. Research

25. *Credit or Volunteer* Apply to the Child Brain and Perception Lab!

The CBP Lab, run by Dr. Charisse Pickron, is seeking research assistants for Summer 2024 and beyond. No prior experience is necessary! Our research focuses on further understanding how experiences with our social world shape our perception, representation, and responses to people, places, and objects in our environment. The lab is interested in better understanding how infants, young children, and adults learn about the ways different people are grouped together, what these groups mean to us, and the potential consequences of forming different social groups. We use behavioral, eye tracking, and electrophysiological measures to investigate questions such as: How do individuals begin to learn of social constructs such as race and gender? What experiences shape the presence and reduction of social biases? If you are interested in joining the CBP Lab’s research team, please complete this initial interest form and someone will follow up with you for a possible interview. 26. *Credit* Directed Research – Identity Pathways Project

The NICE Research Group (Dr. Moin Syed) is seeking undergraduate research assistants to enroll in 3 credits of PSY 5993 for Fall 2024. This research experience involves working on a project funded by the National Science Foundation looking into the identity, academic, and career pathways of racial/ethnic minority college students who major in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Students will read and summarize research articles, recruit participants for the study, and help with data collection. Students who continue on the project for a second semester will have the opportunity to develop their own small research project using the data collected. Enrolled students will be required to attend a weekly in-person team meeting on Mondays from 1:30-2:30, with the remaining work completed independently. Concurrent enrollment in PSY 3901W is permitted. Interested students should complete this application as soon as possible. 27. *Credit* Undergraduate Research Opportunity at the Institute of Child Development

We are looking for responsible, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented students to work in Professor Glenn Roisman's Relationships Research Laboratory in the Fall of 2024 to help with the transcription of interviews about participants' childhood experiences with their primary caregivers. Prospective undergraduate research assistants must be prepared to sign up for 3 credits (approximately 9 hours of work per week, including a flexible schedule and 1-2 weekly, hour-long lab meetings). Professor Roisman asks that you email in advance of your Zoom appointment your resume and a brief writing sample (no more than a 1-page excerpt) from a college paper.

28. *Volunteer* 1 year+ Volunteer RA Position with a Longitudinal Study of Resilience in Military Service Members

The Advancing Research on Mechanisms of Resilience (ARMOR) Project, under the direction of Dr. Melissa Polusny at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, is looking for research assistants for the summer of 2024 and beyond! The current longitudinal study examines processes contributing to resilience in military personnel. Research assistants who join the ARMOR Project will receive training and gain experience conducting a large cohort study that utilizes evidence-based longitudinal tracking and survey methods. This is a volunteer position and requires a minimum of 10-12 hours per week commitment onsite and attendance at our weekly lab meeting. Students accepted to the lab can apply to receive research credit for the course PSY4993 after committing to one semester as a volunteer. Preference will be given to students who have a minimum GPA of 3.5, are able to make a multiple-semester commitment, and intend on pursuing graduate or medical school. Those with prior experience conducting human subject research, military-connected students, and those from groups that have been historically underrepresented in science as defined by the National Science Foundation are strongly encouraged to apply. 29. *Credit or Volunteer* Gunnar Lab seeking RA fluent in Cantonese

The Gunnar Lab at the Institute of Child Development is looking for research assistants to start summer term 2024 (May 13th). Our research focus is on stress and the effects of early life experiences in children, teens, and young adults. We have a research project seeking RAs to assist with transcribing parent-child interactions from videos. RAs must be bilingual in English and Cantonese. Students can earn 1-2 credits for CPSY 4994. Preference will be given to those who can commit to two or more semesters. 30. *Credit* Counseling Psychology Undergraduate Research Assistant Opportunity

The Identity and Well-being Research lab is currently seeking undergraduate research assistants for Summer 2024/Fall 2024. Research assistants are expected to register for PSY 5993: Directed Research. Dr. Ajayi's research interests include mental health and well-being, social identity development as it relates to race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality, prejudice and discrimination, and designing integrative psychological interventions. An ideal candidate for this position is curious, engaged, and eager to learn. Undergraduate research assistants will have the opportunity to participate in various tasks, including literature reviews, data coding and analysis, participant recruitment and data collection, data entry and management, and weekly lab meetings. 31. *Credit or Volunteer* RA Position Studying Substance Use in Veterans

Dr. Britt Stevenson in Addiction Recovery Services at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System is looking for student RAs for September 2024 through August 2025. Dr. Stevenson anticipates launching a study to examine the daily life experiences that contribute to substance use in Veterans using ecological momentary assessments (EMA) to measure these factors via real-time surveys. The study also involves providing Veterans with individualized graphs of their responses and clinical feedback. Prospective candidates with clinical experience are highly encouraged to apply. RAs are integral in setting up surveys, tracking participant data, completing regulatory paperwork, coordinating directly with Veteran participants, conducting interviews with participants, analyzing data, interpreting individualized graphs, and helping Dr. Stevenson to finetune the study design based on participant feedback. Dr. Stevenson will provide mentorship and career development guidance. Students can earn 3 credits for PSY 4993 (which corresponds to 9 hours/week) per semester or volunteer. The position is both remote and on-site.VA hires only US Citizens, but those from historically underrepresented groups in science are strongly encouraged to apply. 32. Certified Cognitive Skills Trainer

We are currently seeking energetic individuals who have a strong desire to positively impact the lives of others through our intensive cognitive training program. Join our team as a Certified Cognitive Skills Trainer at one of our centers in Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, or Shoreview. Like a personal trainer for the brain, our Certified Cognitive Skills Trainers work with students in an intense, one-on-one environment to improve learning, reading, and math. We utilize specific research-supported techniques to strengthen cognitive learning skills, attention, and memory in students from a wide range of backgrounds and age groups such as K-12 students, adults, and those with traumatic brain injuries and other cognitive impairments. We are looking for quick-thinking, high-energy individuals who are pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s degree in Psychology or other social science. We require at least three weekdays with availability from 4 pm-8 pm. This is a great long-term part-time position for individuals seeking psychology experience. Starting pay of $18/hr plus a signing bonus of $500. Internship credit is available in addition to pay. Benefits include paid time off, bonuses, and 401k contributions. 33. Study Coordinator Position - Suicide Prevention in Veterans Research

We are seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and detail-oriented person to be a local site study coordinator in a multi-site, randomized control trial in the laboratory of Dr. Snezana Urosevic. Dr. Urosevic is a site PI for the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. The study examines a telehealth case management intervention for veterans at risk for suicide during the transition period after discharge from inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. We request that applicants are willing to make a commitment to the lab for Summer and Fall on a part-time schedule (approximately 20 hours/week in Summer and 10 hours/week in the Fall) with the potential for extension based on fit. The study coordinator is responsible for local site participant recruitment occurring on the inpatient psychiatric unit, obtaining informed consent from participants, survey data collection and entry, and maintenance of local and central IRB records. They will work collaboratively with the main site and other satellite sites to meet recruitment goals. Opportunities include learning about study coordination, randomized control trials, and research areas of suicide prevention and telehealth interventions. There are possibilities to get involved in other active projects within the lab, such as digital phenotyping in bipolar disorders research. Competitive applicants will have a strong interest in pursuing graduate-level education and an excellent academic record.
