What is your work like? What are your duties?

Campus Recruitment & Talent Operations! My primary role is helping college students find their career in digital marketing, but I also focus in process improvement within and beyond our recruiting team to save everyone time and create scalable systems.

How would you say your psychology degree has helped you with your current job?

My psychology degree has laid the foundation for bias awareness into my campus recruiting role, both from a psychological and social equity lens.

In what way has your major complemented your current job?

My major set me up for critical thinking, implicit bias recognition, collaborative work style, and understanding others—which are crucial aspects of my role and values of the company.

What advice do you have for our current psych students and recent grads?

Redefine networking for yourself. When I was a student, I was uncomfortable with the concept of networking—it felt deceptive, like I was trying to meet people to use them to get a job. As I’ve gotten into my career, I recognize how much value there is in talking to someone new & being curious about their career and job! Especially when you’re trying to figure out what all the options are. Find people on LinkedIn or in the Gopher Alumni network who are in roles or industries you’re curious about, and set up a time to meet and ask about their work! Not having a particular end-goal takes the pressure off the conversation and provides great opportunities to learn what’s out there.
