Grant Awarded to Tregillus to Study Neural Mechanisms of Long-Term Plasticity

Katherine Tregillus, post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota, was recently awarded a grant from the National Eye Institute of $67,446 for her study entitled “Neural mechanisms of long-term plasticity in human visual cortex.” The study will focus on a special visual illusion called "the McCollough Effect" which is characterized by very long-lasting visual effects. Tregillus and her team hope to identify through the use of fMRI where the McCollough effect happens in the brain and determine why its effects are so long-lasting. She, alongside Stephen Engel, will conduct their research from August 2020 to August 2022.
