Kerry Houlihan Awarded Mortensen Donor Award for Psychology Undergraduate Engagement

Congratulations to Kerry Houlihan, 2019 winner of the Mortensen Donor Award for Psychology Undergraduate Engagement! Kerry is a junior and plans to complete a BS in psychology.

She explains how her work is connected to this award:

"During my time abroad in Madrid, Spain, I was able to take a biological psychology class, along with completing research at my placement in AspaSi. AspaSi is an organization led by Margarita García Marqués that deals with the prevention and treatment of childhood sexual abuse. I was able to help out AspaSi by completing literature reviews about the ways to help different aged individuals deal with childhood trauma. I also got to assist with the prevention side of AspaSi by helping out at local workshops done at schools for children aged three to seven."

The Donor Awards for Psychology Undergraduate Engagement are supported by contributions to the Psychology Undergraduate Scholarship Fund.  Engagement Awards recognize students who combine their interests in and studies of psychology with contributions at community organizations in the Twin Cities, the U.S., or abroad.  Up to two students are selected each term to receive a $500 award through a competitive application process.
