NIH Summer Research Program for Diversity Students in PharmacoNeuroImmunology

This summer, the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota participated in the eight-week Summer Research Program for Diversity Students in PharmacoNeuroImmunology. This interdisciplinary program was created by several faculty across the University, including Jonathan Gewirtz, PhD, Morse-Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor of Psychology.

The program works to provide undergraduate under-represented students of diverse backgrounds with an intensive laboratory-based research experience. Students build the academic and research skills necessary to assure their competitiveness toward entering the next phases of their careers. The program includes laboratory work, classes, and a mentorship with a faculty member who has a focus on drug abuse research.
