NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Award

Congratulations to Vanessa Alschuler for receiving a NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Award for 2022-2023. The NSF GRFP recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in STEM-related fields who are pursuing research-based masters and doctoral degrees. This is a five-year fellowship that includes three years of financial support including a stipend of $34,000 and a cost of education allowance of $12,000 to the institution.

Vanessa is a graduate diversity fellow in the Department of Psychology advised by Dr. Monica Luciana. As a first-year in her graduate studies, Vanessa has already heavily involved herself in the department. She serves as a mentor for the Next-Gen Psych Scholars Program (NPSP), a member of an area-specific DEI committee, and is working with a group of graduate students to establish a Tri-Psych mentorship program for first-year graduate students in psychology from underrepresented backgrounds.

Past award recipients from the Department of Psychology can be viewed on the department’s intranet.
