Professor Joachim Savelsberg

UMN Sociology Professor Joachim Savelsberg is the recipient of the 2022 Barrington Moore Book Award, given by the ASA Section for Comparative and Historical Sociology and of the Gordon Hirabayashi Book Award—Honorable Mention by the ASA Section for Human Rights for Knowing about Genocide: Armenian Suffering and Epistemic Struggles (University of California Press, 2021). UMN Sociology PhD student Brooke Chambers co-authored one of the chapters. The book, researched with resources granted by the Arsham and Charlotte Ohanessian Chair and written during fellowships at the Stellenbosch and Paris centers for advanced study, was published as a paperback and as an open access online edition.
