29th Annual Sociology Research Institute (SRI)
Each year, the Department of Sociology celebrates graduate and undergraduate student research at the Sociology Research Institute (SRI). This academic festival provides an opportunity for our students to present their research in a professional meeting format. Honoring the achievements of our students and faculty, we invite our alumni and friends to reflect on a tremendous group of scholars and their cutting-edge research, teaching, and service.

SRI 2019 was held throughout the day on Friday, April 26. This year we had the distinct honor of welcoming Professor Fabio Rojas from Indiana University Bloomington as our keynote speaker. Professor Rojas presented "Rebuilding the Sociologist from the Ground Up: Why Sociologists Need a New Habitus, a New Praxis, and New Identity".
Rojas, co-editor of the American Sociological Association’s Contexts magazine, is a social movements scholar who has written books about the antiwar movement in America and how the Black Power movement of the 1960s led to black studies programs in universities. You can read more about Professor Rojas' exciting research at his personal website.
