Permission Number Process

Some of our courses require a permission number in order to enroll. Permission numbers only work for classes with open seats. They do not allow you to claim reserved seating, enroll in a course that's full, or join a waitlist that's full.

If you believe you need a permission number, please email the Statistics undergraduate advisor at  [email protected]  with the following information:

  1. Your name
  2. Your student ID number
  3. Course number (example: Stat 3701)
  4. Three-digit section (Example: Section 002)
  5. Explanation of why you need the permission number

Once we have received this information the department can issue you a permission number, if applicable.

Please finalize your class schedule before requesting permission number and ensuring that class section is one you need as the School of Statistics rarely issues another permission number.

If you are seeking a permission number because an instructor has agreed to let you join a class, such as in the second week of fall and spring semesters when their permission is required, please forward that permission to the statistics advisor.

Please note: the School of Statistics does not control access to courses not offered by the School. If you are interested in a course outside of the "STAT" designator, please contact the department offering the course.
